Pearls & Lace Shadow Box

I finally put together my 2012 Rubber Ducky Birthday Project and I'm loving it.  I'll show it closed and open.  The open view will let you see more of the detail on the jewelry pins.  The only thing I would change is with the antique lace hanky.  I would like it to be white in the center section (like it was before I glued it down). I had all the pieces sitting on my kitchen counter for many months until I finally decided to go for it.  I was afraid I would mess it up...but it really wasn't hard.  It mostly took patience while the E6000 Industrial Strength glue dried on each piece and while gluing the pearls around the edges.  What a sense of accomplishment!  I'm so thrilled with my  Pearls & Lace theme. This is what you get when you have so many talented, creative friends.

Here is the closed view shown hanging on my wall.  There are a few pieces that have dangles on them that move...and the center pin is all movable and hangs really nice with it upright.

Last of the Birthday Jewelry Pieces

This month we celebrated two birthdays at our Rubber Ducky Club.  First up is Michele Templeman.  Her birthday theme was Halloween.  Michele loves bling like I do so I wanted to really Bling it up.

I found a big pink jewel at a big box store so used that for the main focus.  The back of the pink jewel is attached to a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate.  I found a couple of pink round jewels to attach to the sides of the piece.  Luckily they were the same color of pink.  I Love Pink!  Anyway, I took some Stampin' Up! Rhinestone Jewels and colored them with alcohol ink to make them a lime green.  I found some lime green embroidery thread and tied a bow on top.  I used a couple of Halloween Scrapbooking stickers to attach a witches hat on the top and a coldren on the bottom.  I finished up the back of the piece with a piece of the Champagne Shimmer Paper that is new in the Holiday Mini catalog.  I glittered the ghost and then added Crystal Effects to it.  Love how it turned out.  It definitely makes a statement.  :)

Next up is Jane Price.  Her birthday theme was Moose.  I bought a couple of Moose charms to help get me started.  I spent a couple of days awhile back looking for a specific die I own but couldn't find.  In my search for the die, I came across a Moose punch I forgot I had....so put that aside to use on Jane's piece.

First I brayered a piece of Glossy White card stock with a multi color background that worked well for a sky backdrop and punched it out with a scallop oval punch.  The Moose was punched out of Gold Mirricard.  The trees in the background were made using the Serene Silhouettes stamp set.  I took a sponge dauber and only inked the two lower clumps of leaves and trunk.  It was the perfect size to make this scene. I then put black embossing powder on and heated it...so now the background is done.  I found a little old grass punch that I had to stand on to get it to punch each time.  No wonder I hadn't used it in years!!!  I cut out the white clouds from more glossy white card stock.  SU Dimensionals made the moose stand out and I buried his hoofs in the grass.  Nestabilities dies were used to cut the two outside ovals in black and Pumpkin Pie.  Whaa laa a Moose Jewelry Piece.

I got my last Pearls & Lace Jewelry piece for my August birthday...last night from Michele Templeman.  Now...to find time to finish my Shadowbox.  I can't wait until it is finished.  I"ll share the results when it's done.

Michele likes little stamps and tags so there is a lot on this small piece.  I saved a place in my shadowbox for it...and it turns out that it has the subtle pink that goes with the others already received.  What more could I ask???!!!???!!!   :)   It's been a fun year but I think we are all ready to go onto something else.  Each new year brings another challenge.

"Egyptian" Themed Jewelry Piece

Here is my latest jewelry piece made for my friend, Gail Scase.  Her September birthday theme is "Egyptian".  I had to research the Egyptian theme to get myself on the right track.  I spent almost as much time as I spent researching Steam Punk back in March....so it is all a learning experience.

I purchased a wonderful art pendant image of the Goddess Bast which is perfect since Gail loves cats.  The original statue was part of the riches discovered in 1929 upon the excavation of King Tutankhamen tomb.  I can't wait to give it to her.  

Since I had some extra time to play, I stamped and decorated a gift box to present it. 

For my piece, I used some black ribbon from last year's Holiday mini.  I found some purple glitter tape  and used the scallop square punch to punch the two purple accents on the sides and I used a 1/8" hand-held circle punch to add a dot of color to the bottom and top of the piece.  I used two charms of lotus flowers and white pearls to represent Egyptian Lotus Flowers and Egyptian Pearls.  WaaLaa!!!!   :)

"Pearls & Lace" - I Received my Birthday Jewelry Pieces!!!

Here are three more of MY "Pearls & Lace" themed Birthday Jewelry Pieces.  It is wonderful to get spoiled by my friends!!!  I'm loving it!!!

My fifth piece was made by Kathy Klancic.  Isn't this great???  The piece will look perkier when it is hanging and not laying flat.  Kathy made an art person for each of our themes.  She is one creative lady.  I'm loving it!!!

My sixth piece was made by Nicole Webb.  She used a piece of antique lace for this piece.  Nicole also gave me an antique hankie...which I plan to use under the center of my shadow box.  The pink accent roses will help all my pieces work together.  Did you notice the corset charm hanging from the bottom?  I'm loving it!!!

My seventh piece was made by Pat Stevens.  Pat loves hearts and she does wonderful things with them.  Here is a great example.  Love the pink flowers and heart.  The pearls are a light pink...and Pat put a string of pink pearls on the packaging.  Those pearls will be placed around the shadow box to help pull all my pieces together.  I can't wait to have a finished project and can show it off.  I'm loving it!!!

My eighth piece will be made by Michele Templeman but she won't have it done until October club...so I have reserved a spot in the shadow box for it.  :)

I just finished my September jewelry piece for Gail, who has an "Egyptian" theme.  I still have two more pieces to make for October birthdays, for Jane ---"Moose" theme and Michele --- "Halloween" theme.  

So to recap our year, we had themes of: Butterflies/Dragonflies, Steam Punk, Yellow Roses, Seamstress/Sewing, Birds/Bird Cages, Pearls & Lace, Egyptian, Moose, and Halloween.  Just go back in my posts if you would like to see the earlier jewelry pieces.  What a fun and creative year!

"Pearls & Lace" - I Received my Birthday Jewelry Pieces!!!!!!

The RUBBER DUCKIES are a wonderful group of ladies I am privileged to be a part of.  I received all but one of my "Pearls and Lace" themed Birthday Jewelry Pieces....and I'm absolutely loving every one of them.  The plan is to display them in a shadow box but I am waiting on a supply order to finish it.  So, in the meantime, I'll start sharing the individual pieces I received.

 My first piece was made by Dawn Free.  She melted embossing powders to swirl on the large center jewel.  This picture doesn't do it justice.  It will be in the center of my shadow box.  The rest of the piece has lots of pearls and lace. I'm loving it!!!  I'm so glad I selected this theme!

My second piece was made by Gail Scase.  Talk about beautiful.  I love "Girly" things.  Notice the gold hand charm has lace wrapped around it.  The detail is stunning!  I'm loving it!!!

My third piece was made by Jane Price.  Because it is all white, it is hard to see the detail but it is a beautiful white lace flower with a large pearl in the center with small pearls swooping around the outside.  I'm loving it!!!

My fourth piece was made by JoAnn Salmon.  JoAnn found this interesting round base piece that works great...and is the perfect size.  I love Pink and the Cameo looks so classy sitting in the middle.  I'm loving it!!!  Another winner...every one of these is a winner!!!!  

Tomorrow I'll share the last three pieces I received.  Stay Tuned!  I wish I had more birthdays each year!  It seems like it takes forever while waiting for MY birthday works of art...but making pieces for my friends seems to happen every month and it's hard to keep up.  In future posts, I'll show some of my previous year's projects.

Jewelry Piece with a Bird/Birdhouse Theme

Here is my latest birthday jewelry piece made for my friend, Kathy Klancic.  Her August  birthday theme was Bird/Birdhouse.  Kathy creates true treasures and works of art so I always try to give her my very best work.  I'm happy how it turned out.  I'm always a little apprehensive before I start my creations...but usually get a feeling of relief and accomplishment when my pieces are finished .  Our Rubber Ducky group keeps us stretching our creativity.  Wait until you see the beautiful jewelry piece Kathy made for my birthday this month!!!  I'll share in another post.

The piece starts with a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate.  I covered a piece of black card stock with a piece of Ecru lace and mounted it behind the oval.  I was thrilled to find these wonderful bird charms.  I added a few silver flower beads to dangle from the bottom center.  I then added some beautiful blue Cats Eye beads [I've been hoarding these wonderful beads for years] to make the piece pop.  I then added silk flowers and leaves on each side for added interest and wah-lah...the piece was done.  Kathy got many wonderful pieces.  It's always a treat to see what everyone comes up with.  This month didn't disappoint.

Sewing/Seamstress Jewelry Piece

This is my latest Rubber Ducky creation.  July is Pat's birthday month and she selected a Sewing/Seamstress theme.  Pat is a very talented seamstress as well as stamper.  I can't imagine creating a beautiful wedding dress....well, for me curtains would be a big deal.  :)   It took a while to come up with my idea but thankfully it did happen.  :)

I started this jewelry piece with a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate. The pin cushion was made using a piece of fabric...and stuffed it with a small cotton ball.  Next I placed three Swarovski Crystal  beads on a pin and inserted this into the cushion.

Stamp Set:  Rue de Fleurs  [retired]

Fabric:  Beau Chateau

CS:  Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Marina Mist

Embosslit:  Beautiful Wings [smallest butterfly]

Punches:  Large Oval, Scallop Oval, 1/16" Handheld Circle

Miscellaneous:  Scissors and Thimble Charms added to the sides of the plate to dangle

   * Tiny wood spool [I wrapped blue sparkly crochet thread around it]

   * Pink Button with Gold colored center

   * Two luminescent beads [1 blue and 1 pink]

   * Memory Box die was used to make the  flowers to add to the corset.  I took a 1/16" circle

          punch to add blue centers to each flower...then added Dazzling Details to the centers

   * Red Line Tape placed on the front of butterfly and butterfly cut out by hand the second 

          time...then added Dazzling Diamonds and a small Rhinestone Jewel to the center of

          the butterfly. 

Ta Dahhh!!!!!  a finished piece.  :)

Butterfly Jewelry Piece

My second Birthday Jewelry Piece had a Butterfly/Dragonfly theme and was made for my friend, JoAnn...hence this butterfly landing on a sunflower.

You should see how JoAnn chose to display her 8 pieces.  She found a metal butterfly sculpture, put magnets on the back of each piece and attached them to it.  What a wonderful idea JoAnn!!!!  :)


Okay, here is the wonderful metal sculpture JoAnn bought to display her pieces.  She has four pieces on each wing.  Isn't it great!!!!!   :)

Steampunk Birthday Project

My first Steampunk jewelry project was to create a pin for my friend, Dawn, for her birthday earlier this month.  I used a watch case, lots of crystal effects, key charm, Austrian Crystals, Green gems, watch innards and patience.  It has wings, gears and a flower charm glued onto the back.  I love how it turned out.  It was hard to get a good view of the front since it has a glass front but you get the idea.  

Here is a picture of the back of the piece.  Dawn received 8 different Steampunk themed jewelry pieces.  I can't wait to see how she displays them.
